Hoosac school, founded in 1889, is one of the oldest middle schools in New York state, which rests on 350 acres. It is chartered by the New York State Board of Regents and accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools. Men's ice hockey at Hoosac School is the flagship sport for which the school actively recruits. This hockey program won New England Prep School Division championships multiple times. Its music program is also well known for being excellent. Hoosac school's current music teacher was nominated for string music at the 2016 Grammy awards.
